Dear Sirs,
This is a son of Africa with South American origins writing to you. Ghanaian by birth, Nigerian by default and Brazilian through slave trade. I am Nii_ooo_Nii.
Just recently, I heard countries were bidding to host the AFCON 2017 which Libya was to host until it became what it has become now. Amongst these countries is my country of birth, Ghana, and I would want to advise you on why our bid should be rejected.
The government that hosted the CAN 2008 which you seriously enjoyed is no more. Now it's in the hands of ruthless and corrupt people who invest money into ghost projects and pay ghost workers. If that was to even be the case, our cemetaries should have been a heaven but these monies are missing. All I'm saying is we are not fit as a country to host such an event eventhough it would bring us revenue, but we would not see the benefits.
For the past 4 years, the country has been dancing to the tune of Dumsor (power outages) and even our electrical appliances seem to be finding their feet to the this wonderful tune. Football is the passion of Africa and I believe no one would like to watch soccer in the dark. A déja vu of what happened in Brazil would occur here if Ghana's bid goes through. I can assure you that by the end of the soccer fiesta in Ghana your IPads and Laptops would have been damaged. This is my only concern and I believe if you really want to enjoy African soccer without power outages then you would turn down Ghana's bid to host AFCON in 2017 cos there is no money to correct this problem.
The last thing is the probability of the government doing the bidding being in power after 2016 is 5% and the incoming government would have some in-house cleaning to do before they can host any fiesta. GFA too is under enquiries for poor performance at the 2014 WORLD CUP. The country is psychologically not prepared to host any Soccer fiesta. So please turn down our bid.
Counting on your unbiased cooperation.
Yours bavardly,
Nii_ooo_Nii
