Dear Ghanaians,
We officially want to wish you a Happy New Year filled with plans considering Dum
as a factor of all your plans. We hope this year, like the previous years have taught you, you would acquire for yourselves generators. You probably didn’t give it a thought while you spent your cash on drinks and meat because you were enjoying uninterrupted power supply for three continuous weeks but we cannot blame you cos a political promise needed to be fulfilled.
We are sorry but our Christmas break has ended and we are back in town: yɛ wɔ krom. It was just boring without you. At least, we could have heard, “Oh!! ECG” or “Mahama Akwaaba ooo” or “Dumsor Yeboah” but none of these came from you while we were away. You can imagine how boring it was for all of us working here, especially those behind the switches but all the same we are here now and we are glad to announce to you that we have started operating in full force.
We’ve already taken a visit to Makola, Circle, Ayibge Town, Mallam, Lartebiokorshie, Agbogbloshie, Kaneshie, Bubiashie, Korle Gonno, Nima, just to mention a few. The response so far has been positive and we are glad you have accepted us as part of your daily expectations and schedules. We promise not to disappoint you at all this year. We would turn it off at exactly 6 a.m or p.m, without sparing a second.
People have been asking what about the residence of the Guatanamo Bay Detainees. We would like to state emphatically that though we like to play jokes and pranks, some jokes can be very expensive and we are not ready to bear that cost so we would be giving them light 24/7 without interruption.
We are aware you were promised an end to dumsor last year by Dr. Kwabena Donkor and H.E. John Dramani Mahama. Don’t listen to politicians we are in 2016, an election year and they would make all sort of promises. Come to think of it, if dumsor ends, we at ECG would be unemployed, raising the unemployment rate by 50% which is bad for the economy.
If dumsor ends, your life won’t be well planned and organised like we’ve taught you over the past few years. You would take things for granted and end up wasting electricity which in turn would increase your light bills. Be sincere to yourself, how much is your salary? Didn't you recently demonstrate over increase in tarrifs and less salary? We are here for you and we would in every way help you reduce electricity bill. Your bills are our concern. To all who blame us for the fire outbreak in Kumasi Markets, they happened while we were on break so we are innocent.
Have a dumful day and sor-less night. This is where we take leave as we have other areas to visit. Till we meet again in darkness, it is the family from ECG wishing you’re a Dumful day and Sor-less night.
Enjoy 2016. Remember, Y3 Wo Krom.
